Opening Day

Anglers were met at the Opening Day Competition by what forecasters had dubbed the 'Beast from the East II'. Freezing conditions with intermittent snow flurries and a strong easterly breeze made conditions unbearable for some. Members reported rod eyes freezing and numb hands which saw some members head home early. Some hardy anglers managed to see out the day and a few managed to return fish to the scales. Only one junior member managed to return a fish to the scale, managing to stick it out deserved an award in itself. So congratulations go to J.Dunn for picking up the first junior silverware of the season. Seniors faired a little better with Thomas Sneddon taking two browns for a weight of 1lb 14oz. Thomas however was pipped to first place by Iain Lindsay who took a good brace on the spinner for a weight of 2lb 07oz.
