 <\/u><\/p>\n

1 Title<\/b>
<\/span><\/p>\n

The club shall be called THE PORT GLASGOW ANGLING CLUB. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

2 Objects<\/b>
<\/span><\/p>\n

The objects of the club shall be:- <\/span><\/p>\n

(a) To encourage and promote the art of angling. <\/span><\/p>\n

(b) To stock with best known varieties of trout, any dam or other suitable water in which the club may obtain rights. <\/span><\/p>\n

(c) To preserve and improve the fishing for members of the club. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

3 Management
<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The committee shall consist of the President,
Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and a minimum of five other members, all of whom shall be elected annually.<\/span><\/p>\n

Five members shall form a quorum. The chairman of all meetings shall have a casting vote as well as a deliberative
vote. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

4 Meetings
<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

(a) The Annual General Meeting shall be held not later than the month of November in each year for the election of
Office-bearers, fixing the amount of entry money and annual subscription, and the transaction of any other club business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alteration of and addition to the rules shall be made at Annual General Meeting only. <\/span><\/p>\n

(b) Alteration of and addition to rules shall be approved by two thirds of the members at the A.G.M. and notice of the
same must be made in writing to the Secretary not later than 21 days prior thereto. <\/span><\/p>\n

(c) Committee meetings shall be held at such times as may be necessary. Special meetings may be called at any time by
the President or on a requisition by 8 members of the club and 48 hours notice by circular calling same shall be given. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

5 Memberships<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

(a) Ordinary. The club shall not have more than 200 ordinary members. Application for membership must be made on a form
containing the names of the Proposer and Seconder. This form to be submitted by the Secretary at a Committee meeting. <\/span><\/p>\n

(b) Junior. Under the age of 18 years before the 15th<\/sup> March may be admitted at the discretion of the
Committee – Junior membership should not normally exceed one quarter of the total membership.<\/span><\/p>\n

c) Retired member. A member of the club who has 5 years or more continuous membership and has reached state pension age is
considered a retired member.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

(d) Honorary Membership. Shall be nominated by the Committee and endorsed at an Annual General Meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n

(e) Life Membership awarded to members who have completed 40 continuous years of membership and have reached the state
pension age.<\/span><\/p>\n

(f) Ceasing Membership. Any person ceasing to hold membership of the club shall forfeit all rights and privileges of
membership but shall remain liable for the return of any property belonging to the club or any dues or debts to the club which became payable or were incurred before the date of resignation or expulsion.<\/span><\/p>\n

(g) Waiting List. In the event that ordinary membership has been reached, the details of successful membership
applicants will be added to a waiting list. On the resignation of a member, membership will be offered to the first successful<\/span><\/p>\n

applicant on the waiting list. Residents of Port Glasgow will take priority over Non-Residents.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

6 Subscriptions and Entry Fees<\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n

(a) New Members. An entry fee or such sum as the members shall determine from time to time shall be paid by each member
on election.<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) The subscription payable by ordinary and junior members shall be fixed each year by members at the Annual General
Meeting. <\/span><\/p>\n

(c) Any member whose subscription is unpaid by 1st March shall forfeit membership. <\/span><\/p>\n

(d) Retired members will be entitled to reduced or waived subscription as determined by members from time to time, at
an Annual General Meeting. <\/span><\/p>\n

(e) Every member shall be responsible for informing the Secretary of change of address or other information relevant to
their membership of the club. <\/span><\/p>\n

f) Honorary and Life Members subscriptions will be waived.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

7 Treasurer<\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n

The Treasurer shall receive all monies due to the club and shall pay the debts of the club. All assets of the club will be
held in the name of the club. All bank accounts will be operated by the signatures of any two officials. The treasurer shall prepare the yearly balance sheet and submit the same to the Auditor of the club. <\/span><\/p>\n

8 Secretary
<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The secretary shall prepare minutes of all meetings and engross same in the clubs minute book. He shall summon meetings
and conduct correspondence. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

9 Obligations
<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Every member shall be bound to report to the Secretary any infringement of rules and bye-laws which may come under his
notice, and the Secretary shall bring such report before the first meeting of the Committee. Every member shall provide himself with a copy of the rules at a price fixed by the Committee. <\/span><\/p>\n

Members are required to attend a minimum of one Work Party per membership year. Participation in a Work Party will involve,
but is not limited to care and maintenance of club waters and assets. It will be the responsibility of the member to attend a work party on any of the dates provided by the committee. A program of Work Party dates will be provided by the club, details of which will be disseminated to the membership. Junior Members are exempt from work party attendance. For members who have reached the state pension age or are disabled attendance is optional. Failure to attend a work party within a membership year will result in a fine to be paid on membership renewal. Refusal\/failure to pay will result in membership being withdrawn.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

10 Liabilities
<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Committee of Management shall have recourse against all members on the roll of the club, for any obligation which
they as Committee of Management may have undertaken on behalf of the club. The responsibility of any member withdrawing will not cease till 28 days after the official opening of the season. <\/span><\/p>\n

11 Competitions<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Competitions may be held as the committee will fix and any member desiring to take part in same shall enter his name
therefore. The committee shall appoint two members to see the fish weighed and their decision will be final.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

12 Powers of Committee<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

(a) The Committee of Management shall take such steps (legal or otherwise) and incur such expense as may be required and
as they think fit to protect the rights and interests of the club; but they shall not enter into litigation without the special authority of the members of the club.<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) The Committee are authorised to deal with such member or person who is found infringing the rights or doing anything
to the detriment of the club; and they shall also deal with any member who breaks the law by fishing an illegal manner, or who does not observe the rules and byelaws of the club, or about whom any complaint is made by the superiors of the fishings.<\/span><\/p>\n

(c) The committee shall also have the power to make bye-laws and alter or add to these from time to time as they think
expedient for the effective management and well being of the club. All bye-laws and regulations made under this rule shall be binding upon the membership until repealed by the committee or set aside by a resolution of a General Meeting of the club.<\/span><\/p>\n

(d) The Committee is the sole authority for the interpretation of the rules (and of the bye-laws made there under).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

13 Dissolution of the Club<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The club shall not be dissolved so long as ten Ordinary members belong to it and then only provided that the majority
agrees thereto, in the event of its dissolution the property after satisfying all liability, shall be equally divided among the full members then remaining.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Bye-Laws and Competition Rules<\/span><\/u>– Revised 2026<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

General<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Members\/anglers are especially requested to protect wild life and livestock.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Fishing on the Knocknair is restricted to Catch & Release only.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Vehicle parking at the Gryffe should be at the boat house lane and Higher Gryffe access points only<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. No member\/angler shall be allowed to take a dog to the fishing grounds.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Tents & camping is prohibited at all club waters.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Fires are prohibited at all club waters.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Members\/anglers are to use stiles provided when traversing field boundaries.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Members\/anglers shall be strictly bound to keep to the roads and foot paths when going to and coming from the waters. <\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Members\/anglers when fishing on the waters of the club must carry their permit at all times and shall be obliged to show same to the Superiors, gamekeepers, watchers, or members of the club when requested to do so.<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Members wishing permission for a friend shall make application to the Secretary, who will provide him with a Daily Permit <\/span>at the priced fixed by the members at an A.G.M.<\/li>\n
  11. Seasonal alterations or additions to the bye-laws shall be shown on Membership Cards and POSTED on the Club Website www.pgac.org.uk, and click on the rules page.<\/span><\/li>\n
  12. Winter Fishing is restricted to members only.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Fishing Rules<\/u> – Revised 2026<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

     <\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. The close time stipulated by statute shall be observed by the club on the Knocknair and Harelaw Reservoirs. Namely the fishing season will commence on the 15th<\/sup> March and cease on the 6th October.
      No fishing shall take place on any club water out with these dates with the exception of the Gryffe where Winter Fishing will be permitted to members only from the 7th <\/sup>October to the 15th<\/sup> February.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. All fishing shall be done with a rod and line in a fair<\/span> sportsmanlike manner and only the recognized angling lures shall be used.<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Members\/anglers are restricted to fish a single rod and no other rods are to be mounted. A rod is considered mounted when sections are joined or a reel or line is attached.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Treble Hooks are not permitted for bait fishing<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Bait fishing is restricted to a maximum of two single hooks.<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. Bait fishing is restricted to single hooks only.<\/span><\/li>\n
    7. Bubble Fly Fishing is not permitted on club waters.<\/span><\/li>\n
    8. Ground Baiting and Swim Feeders are not permitted on club waters.<\/span><\/li>\n
    9. Chemical Bait enhancers i.e. Power Bait, are not permitted on club waters.<\/span><\/li>\n
    10.  There is a two fish limit on all club waters per day, except during club competitions.<\/span><\/li>\n
    11. Anglers may not retain fish that do not exceed the stated Size Limit for Trout as stated on their Permit.<\/span><\/li>\n
    12.  No Day Permit holders are allowed on the club water which is hosting a competition.<\/span><\/li>\n
    13. Only competitors can fish the club water on which a competition is taking place.<\/span><\/li>\n
    14.  The use of Float tubes is permitted by senior members only, who have submitted a disclaimer form provided by the club to the club secretary. Members using a float tube members MUST wear a life jacket at all times. Juniors, Day and Season
      ticket holders are not permitted to use float tubes on club waters.<\/span><\/li>\n
    15. Private Boats, canoes, pontoon boats or similar craft are not permitted on club waters at any time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/span><\/p>\n

      Winter Trout Fishing Rules<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/i><\/p>\n

      1.   The close time stipulated by statute shall be observed by the club. Namely the fishing season will commence on the 15th March
      and cease on the 6th October. No fishing shall take place on any club water out with these dates with the exception of the Gryffe where Winter Trout Fishing will be permitted to members only from the 7th<\/sup> October to the 15th <\/sup>February.<\/span><\/p>\n

      2.   Fishing shall be by Fly Fishing Only. <\/span><\/p>\n

      3.   Flies shall be de-barbed or <\/span>barbless.<\/span><\/p>\n

      4.   All winter trout fishing will be catch and release only.<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/span>Winter Pike <\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b>Fishing Rules<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

      1.    The close time stipulated by statute shall be observed by the club. Namely the fishing season will commence on the 15th March
      and cease on the 6th October. No fishing shall take place on any club water out with these dates with the exception of the Gryffe<\/span><\/p>\n

            where Winter Pike Fishing will be permitted to members only from the 7th<\/sup> October to the 15th<\/sup> February.<\/span><\/p>\n

      2.   During specified Winter Pike fishing dates members are to target only Pike. Any trout or perch caught are to be returned to the water unharmed.<\/span><\/p>\n

      3.   The use of Live Bait is not permitted. <\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

      4.   Dead bait fishing is restricted <\/span>to a maximum of two treble hooks.<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/i><\/p>\n

      Note:
      Winter Fishing Rules are an addition to the existing Bye Laws and Fishing Rules
      which must be adhered to.<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      Competition Rules<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      1. All members competing in club competitions should register with the competition superiors before the start of the match. The competition superior will record the competitors name and permit number in the Competition Results Book.<\/span><\/p>\n

      2. All competitors returning fish to the scales must be at the weigh in point within fifteen minutes of the competition end time.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Failure to comply will result in disqualification.<\/span><\/p>\n

      3. Members can retain no more than six fish during a competition. When a competitor has retained their six fish limit they are required to cease fishing.<\/span><\/p>\n

      4. In the event of a competitor catching and retaining their six fish limit, the competitor will be required to present their catch to the
      competition superior (or designated timers) who will record the time of presentation.<\/span><\/p>\n

      5. A Time Bonus of one pound for each complete hour will be will be awarded to anglers who have retain their limit.<\/span><\/p>\n

           6.  Competitions Superior\u2019s decision is final.<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/p>\n

      Note: The weigh in point on the Gryffe is the bothie, on the Harelaw the weigh in point shall be prescribed
      by the competition superior at the start of the competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Please note that fish can only be weighed when the competition is finished. Any competitor wishing to
      leave the competition early should make their own arrangements for their catch to be submitted by a fellow competitor.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Competitors are reminded that the weigh in commences on completion of the competition, the end time of which is stated on their permit. All competitors returning fish to the scale must be at the weigh in point no later than 15 minutes after the end of the
      competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

      NO anglers should weigh their own fish or edit the Competition Results book with the exception of
      registration. Only the Competition Superiors or persons appointed by the competition superiors can conduct the \u2018weigh in\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Any competitor failing to comply with any of the stated will be disqualified.<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/span><\/u><\/b> <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      Competition Point System<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      Positions are decided by total bag weight. In the event of a tie the number of fish will decide. In the event of it still being tied the biggest fish will decide. If after this it is still tied a draw will be the result.<\/p>\n

      The points for each competition are worked out as follows:-<\/p>\n

      1st<\/sup> Place 10 Points       6th place 4 points<\/p>\n

      2<\/span>nd<\/sup> Place 8 <\/span>Points      7<\/span>th<\/sup> Place 3 Points<\/span><\/p>\n

      3rd<\/sup> Place 7 Points      8th<\/sup> Place 2 Points<\/p>\n

      4th<\/sup> Place 6 Points      9th<\/sup> Place 1 Point<\/p>\n

      5th<\/sup> Place 5 Points<\/p>\n

      All competitors will receive a point for each fish weighed in.<\/p>\n

      All competitors will receive a point for attendance.<\/p>\n

       <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      Club Championship<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      The club championship consists of all club competitions fished on club waters.<\/p>\n

      Namely the Opening Day competition, the three All Lures competitions and the three Fly Only
      competitions.<\/p>\n

      The William Gibson Trophy<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      This trophy is won by the individual whom gains the greatest number of points over all of the clubs outings.<\/p>\n

      The Fly Fishing Championship <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      The Fly Fishing Championship consists of all Fly Only competitions fished on club waters and all of the club outings.<\/p>\n

      With the increase in the number of outings it is realised that due to other commitments not everyone will be able to attend each event. It has therefore been decided in the interests of fairness that club representation and the Fly Fishing Championship
      shall be determined on an individuals results in four out of five Fly Only competitions.<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

       <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      SANACC Representatives<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      The Fly Fishing Championship will also decide the representatives for SANACC competitions. The winner will represent the club in the SANACC championship as well as fish in the \u2018A\u2019 Team for the Scottish Club Championship. The Runner Up will be the
      clubs second SANACC representative and will also fish in the \u2018A\u2019 Team in the Scottish Club Championship as will the angler in third place. The anglers in fourth, fifth and sixth place will form the \u2018B\u2019 Team. In the event of a withdrawal the replacement will be next named on the results table.<\/p>\n

      Expense<\/u><\/p>\n

      All Club representatives will have the competition entry fees paid by the club.<\/p>\n

       <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

      Prize Winnings<\/u><\/p>\n

      All individual & team prizes may be retained except cash prizes which are to be passed to the club treasurer.<\/p>\n
